webinart 20/21

In the midst of the pandemic, it’s a hard time for us all right now. As artists and creatives in a world of uncertainty, it’s easy to feel lost and overwhelmed. It’s now more important than ever to support each other, adapt our approach, and learn effective ways to elevate and grow resilient businesses in the face of adversity.

Are you an early-career creative in need of expert guidance and support from experienced arts professionals? Or are you a more experienced mid-career visual artist or maker, looking for peer support with fellow seasoned creatives to share knowledge and ideas?

WebinArt is Creative Leicestershire’s one-year professional development programme. Previously, the programme has provided support predominantly aimed at creatives start-ups. This year, we are excited to announce three parallel initiatives, designed to support early-career (Emerge), more established artists and makers (Establish), and creative practitioners who only require access to our online content (Evolve).

what DO we do?

We collaborate with knowledgeable arts industry experts and creative organisations across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Rutland, to deliver bespoke business mentoring, live online interviews, and engaging live webinars packed with valuable industry know-how. We also facilitate social connection opportunities to help you meet and chat to like-minded members.

To keep our community safe, all activity will be online until social-distancing restrictions have been lifted.

Sounds Great! What's Included?

> Mentoring for EMERGE members (early-career)

Both initiatives will run side by side over 12 months. Over that time, our early-career members (~ less than 3 years in business) will benefit from three one-to-one tailored business mentoring sessions with one of our expert mentors. The early-career programme is open to all creative disciplines.

> Peer-mentoring for establish members (mid-career/established)

Those on our mid-career programme (~ more than 3 years in business) will have the opportunity to engage in focussed peer-to-peer mentoring sessions, facilitated by award-winning maker and arts professional Ruth Singer. The mid-career initiative is best suited to visual artists and makers.

> Valuable Online Learning

  • Take part in 12 monthly live webinars, hosted by our professional partners. You will delve into a wide range of subjects, such as online and instagram marketing, designing and leading workshops, working collaboratively with others, working with communities, setting up studios, working with galleries, finance and funding. (Please note these are subject to change - the schedule and topics are yet to be confirmed).

  • Watch 6 live online interviews with creative professionals from each of our partner organisations:

Junction Arts
Modern Painters New Decorators
Haarlem Artspace
Advantage Creative
Rutland County Museum
The Mighty Creatives
Show More

All of this valuable content will be recorded and shared via our online learning platform, so you can conveniently catch-up and re-watch interviews and webinars from anywhere, at any time.

> Be a part of our supportive community

  • Over the year, take part in 6 friendly and welcoming networking opportunities to meet and connect with like-minded members, mentors and arts professionals across Leicestershire, Rutland and Derbyshire. (Emerge and Evolve only)

  • You will also be invited to join our private Facebook community of members, mentors and experts to share information, ask questions and support others.

  • We will share a selection of your instagram posts to our own social media channels, helping promote your work to wider audiences.

what people say

"I’m glad to have been part of such an inspiring programme. The content has been really interesting and relevant, and my mentor is amazing. It’s nice to meet and just talk to someone who understands the pressures of being a creative."

"To have a confidential space with an experienced mentor where I can talk about my practice as well as my work life, and how that fits together, was really great and a rare experience since graduating."

"The flexible time to make contact, guide, challenge and support participants at the pace and depth that suits their needs is great, however formally that fits with them."

"I feel delighted to be involved - It’s such a needed programme! Programmes like this can help bridge that gap to ensure they know what the broader creative industry looks like - or at least to make visible what is existing around them."

"I’ve had a ball! I enjoyed delivering my webinar and would love the chance to do another one. The mentoring was interesting and personally speaking, very satisfying for me. It was good to be able to encourage people to see them move on."

"The programme has been very enjoyable and encouraging as I've had the chance to listen to and meet professionals who’ve made a success of themselves. My mentor has also enabled me to clearly refine my goals as well as helping me develop a plan of action to reach them."

"It really is a wonderful project. The short and snappy style of the interview was perfect for social media and it was received very well by followers, friends, fellow artists, commissioners and other professionals."

"I can’t believe my facebook video had over 700 views over the course of a week or two! Love the edited version too, this would be too cost prohibitive for an artist to commission for their website, so getting this as part of the programme is wonderful."
